Dave Nystrom
Dave Nystrom Comedian |
Dave Nystrom was born in the same small Canadian town
as Paul Shaffer. One went on to become a flamboyantly
dressed performer with questionable sexuality, the other
got a job on "Letterman". Leaving his home town of
Thunder Bay, Ontario in the fall of 1994, Dave moved to
Vancouver to attend the Vancouver Film School's "Acting
for film and Television" program. While in school, Dave
started hanging around the local comedy club and soon
found himself on stage for the club's amateur night. As
one of his lifelong goals of becoming a working stand up
comedian began to come to fruition, Dave graduated
from acting school. Not long after graduating, he got
himself an agent and soon was off auditioning, landing a
role on his very first audition for Showtime's "Beggar's
and Choosers". Shortly afterwards Dave then began
touring extensively to develop as a stand up. But when he
did return to acting, the second role he landed was the
lead in a movie of the week called "Bratty Babies"
opposite Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna. Most recently
Dave has been brought on as a writer for the top rated
news parody show, CBC’s “This Hour has 22 Minutes”.
Dave has toured extensively across Canada and last year had a successful trip to England, where he performed in a number of different clubs to appreciative audiences. This year Dave performed at HBO's prestigious US Comedy& Arts Festival in aspen, Colorado, where he garnered Industry praise and found himself anagement (Avalon Talent Management) and an agent (David Shapira & Associates) in the United States. Dave has now moved to Los Angeles where he has already written for National Lampoon, and is performing at all the top clubs in town.
For now Dave looks ahead, as he continues to do what he loves, get paid to be a wiseass.
