Bill Cowen
Bill Cowen Comedian Emcee |
Polished, charming, and very funny, this versatile performer is one of the most sought after comedians on the circuit. Billy started his career in Edmonton in 1987. His quirky rock 'n' roll style and off beat impressions made him an instant hit on the Canadian Stand-Up scene. He moved to Toronto in 1989 and in no time honed his skill to a slick fast delivery and a powerful crowd-pleasing act. Club owners soon noticed his knack for ad-libbing and his uncommon popularity with audiences, so they started to use him as an M.C. It was over the course of the next several years that Billy really began to shine. He lost the rock n' roll image and emerged as one of the top hosts in the business, all the while writing stronger material and becoming an extremely dynamic comic.
While working the clubs out of Toronto, Billy decided to expand his horizons. He enrolled in the Broadcast Journalism program at Seneca College. Two years later he graduated with High Honours and was immediately hired by CHUM Radio, one of the most prestigious stations in North America. After two years of reporting the news, he returned to his hometown of Edmonton where he was the Newsroom Assignment Editor at A-Channel for a year. In the spring of '99, Billy was offered the perfect job, Co-host and News Anchor of the 97.3 K-Rock Morning Show. It's in this arena that Billy is able to showcase his talent as a Newscaster and exercise his wicked sense of humour.
During the course of his career, Billy has appeared on several television shows including CTV's "Open Mike with Mike Bullard", and CBC's "Comics". He's been awarded internationally for his voice work and has voiced numerous spots both in Toronto and Edmonton. During what little spare time he has, Billy also works on writing and hopes to some day bring a screenplay to life. Whether the microphone is in front of an audience, in a recording studio, or a radio station, Billy is one of the most dependable, multifaceted people in comedy, and tailored for your needs.
